These records of the U.S. War Department's Department of Dakota consist of an abstract from a letter (June 23, 1877) to the Assistant Adjutant General of the Yellowstone Command from Lieutenant Gustavus C. Doane at Crow Camp on the Yellowstone River, advising that Crow Indians were in the area north of the river. The abstract was made for the information of L.M. Black and Company, mail contractors.
